Student Resume

This is an excellent time of the year to begin developing your resume and preparing for future opportunities!

A student resume is a simple way to show your achievements, activities, volunteer work, and skills all in one place. Even if you haven’t had a job yet, your resume highlights what makes you unique and helps colleges, scholarships, or employers see your strengths. A resume is important for everyone... not just students going to college. It’s also a great tool for applying to jobs, internships, or other opportunities after high school!

To make this process easier, we have a template for you. We encourage everyone to fill it out, no matter your future plans. You can also find more resume templates on Canva and Google Documents. You can even make it more personal by adding pictures of yourself participating in hobbies, playing sports, or volunteering in the community. This way, your resume truly shows who you are both inside and outside of school!

You can find your copy of the template under Classwork, under the topic "Student Resume Template."

Frequently Asked Questions

How are students selected for an internship or shadowing opportunity?

  • Any junior or senior level student can apply for the program. They must be screened by the school, return necessary paperwork, and be approved to apply for positions in the program. Ultimately, the employer will have the final approval on their participation in the internship.

Is there an age requirement to participate in the program?

  • Some positions in the program do require students to be 18 to participate, but other positions do not. To participate in the Work-Based Learning courses, students must be 16 and be at least a junior or senior.

Will students get high school credit for participating in the program?

  • Students can gain credit for the work-based learning course. However, a student can still participate in the program even if they do not need the course as a graduation requirement. The expectation is that the student will meet all requirements to complete the program to earn the credit and honor the commitment of the internship.

What hours will students work each day?

  • Students will work based upon the needs of the employer and will be flexible during the school day and after school hours. All students will have a class in their schedule in which they are released to go to the job site. Most of these opportunities will take place during their fourth period class.

What internships or shadowing opportunities are available for students?

  • There are currently 14 categories of internship and job shadowing programs available to students in the Sevier County School System. A list of these programs is available below.
  • Internship Opportunities

Who is the overall contact for this program?

  • The school principal will designate a school level contact at each high school in the system. Gary Stinnett is Innovative School Models Internship Coordinator. He can be contacted at garystinnett@sevier.org
